Animals Protection Second Amendment Act, 1985 (No. 84 of 1985)

Act

  • to amend the Animals Protection Act, 1962, so as to empower the Minister of Justice to make regulations relating to the seizure and disposal or destruction of animals; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.

BE IT ENACTED by the State President and the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-

Amendment of section 10 of Act 71 of 1962, as amended by section 4 of Act 54 of 1983 and section 8 of Act 20 of 1985.

1. Section 10 of the Animals Protection Act, 1962, is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of the following paragraph:

"(c) the seizure, impounding, custody or confining of any animal due to any condition of such animal, the disposal or destruction of such animal and the recovery of any expenses incurred in connection therewith from the owner of such animal; and".

Short title.

2. This Act shall be called the Animals Protection Second Amendment Act, 1985.
