Post Office Appropriation Act, 1990 (No. 22 of 1990)

- to appropriate a sum of money for the requirements of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications in respect of the financial year ending 31 March 1991.

BE IT ENACTED by the State President and the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:- .
Appropriation of moneys for requirements of Department
1. Subject to the provisions of the Post Office Act, 1958 (Act No. 44 of 1958), there are hereby .appropriated, as a charge to the Post Office Fund, for the requirements of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications in respect of the financial year ending 31 March 1991, the sums of money set forth in the Schedule.
Purposes to which moneys shall be applied
2. The moneys appropriated by section 1 shall be applied to the purposes set forth in the Schedule and more particularly specified in Part II of the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications (R.P. 15-1990), as submitted to and approved by Parliament.
Limitation on exceeding of certain appropriated amounts
3. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 12F (3) and (4) of the Post Office Act, 1958 (Act No. 44 of 1958), an amount appropriated by this Act for-
(a) provision for personal entertainment;
(b) the Post Office Sports Association;
(c) grants-in-aid and contributions to-
(i) the S.A. Institute of Electrical Engineers;
(ii) the Philatelic Foundation of Southern Africa;
(iii) the University of Pretoria;
(iv) the University of Stellenbosch;
(v) the University of Natal;
(vi) the University of Cape Town;
(vii) the University of Witwatersrand;
(viii) the Rand Afrikaans University;
(ix) die Potchefstroomse Universiteit vir C.H.O.;
(x) die Afrikaanse Taal- en Kultuurbond (Posts and Telecommunications);
(xi) the Services Golf Club, Pretoria;
(xii) the Post Office Christian Association;
(xiii) the South African Federation of University Engineering Students;
(xiv) various marketing bodies; and
(xv) the S.A. Institute of Organization and Methods, may not be exceeded otherwise than in accordance with an authority granted under section 12F (5) (a) of the said Act.
Short title
4. This Act shall be called the Post Office Appropriation Act, 1990.
