55 of 1987

The Mental Health Amendment Act 55 of 1987 intends:

  • to amend the Mental Health Act, 1973 [repealed in 2004], so as
    • to alter obsolete designations;
    • to authorize the Minister of Justice to assign powers or duties entrusted to him in terms of the said Act; and
    • to grant leave to President's patients to be absent from institutions or places where they are being detained; and
  • to provide for incidental matters.
