The Mental Health Amendment Act 3 of 1984 intends:

to amend the Mental Health Act, 1973 [repealed in December 2004], so as to substitute certain obsolete expressions and to increase the amounts which are relevant to the appointment of a curator of the property of a mentally ill person by a judge In chambers or a Master of the Supreme Court; and
to provide for matters connected therewith.
