The Dangerous Weapons Amendment Act 29 of 1990 intends:

  • to amend the Dangerous Weapons Act, 1968 [repealed in 2014], so as
  • to further define certain expressions;
  • to extend the power of the Minister of Law and Order to restrict or prohibit the possession of dangerous weapons to include firearms; and
  • to increase the fines which may be imposed in respect of offences; and 
  • to provide for incidental matters.

  • 2 July 1990 (Gazette 12605 of 2 July 1990)
  • 1 January 1992, Sections 3(2) and 4-6 (Gazette 13626 of 15 November 1991)
  • 1 July 1992, Sections  1(xLvi) and Ch. 5  (Gazette 13626 of 15 November 1991)
