The Correctional Matters Amendment Act 5 of 2011 aims:
- to repeal provisions establishing an incarceration framework introduced by the Correctional Services Amendment Act, 2008;
- to amend the Correctional Services Act, 1998, so as:
- to amend a definition and insert new definitions;
- to provide for a new medical parole system;
- to clarify certain provisions relating to parole;
- to provide for the management and detention of remand detainees; and
- to provide for matters connected therewith.
Commencement
- 1 March 2012 except Section 9 (Gazette 35093, 1 March 2012)
- 5 January 2015, Section 9 as far as it relates to section 48 of the Correctional Services Act (Gazette 38377, 5 January 2015)
- 1 July 2013, Section 9 as far as it relates to section 49G of the Correctional Services Act (Gazette 36621, 1 July 2013)
- 1 December 2012, Section 9 as far as it relates to section 49E of the Correctional Services Act (Gazette 35909, 30 November 2012)
