The Advanced Technical Education Amendment Act 84 of 1983 intends:
- to amend the Advanced Technical Education Act, 1967 [repealed in February 1995], so as
- to replace or define or further define certain expressions;
- to extend the powers of a technikon as to the lending or borrowing of money;
- to replace a board of studies of a technikon by an academic board;
- to further regulate the appointment of the principal of a technikon;
- to reduce the number of members of the council of a technikon and to extend such council's powers;
- to provide further for the staff establishment and the registration of students at technikons;
- to further regulate the creation of courses of study at technikons and to provide for the creation of certain schools at technikoris;
- to do away with inspections of technikons;
- to further regulate the conduct of examinations;
- to make new provision regarding the conditions subject to which subsidies may be granted to technikons;
- to establish a Committee of Technikon Principals and to define its functions;
- to create certain offences;
- to further regulate the delegation of powers; and
- to effect certain textual changes; and
- to provide for matters connected therewith.
