BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:—

Abolition of Public Service Commission and provincial service commissions concerned

1. The Public Service Commission established by section 209(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1993 (Act No. 200 of 1993), and the provincial service commissions established by the Provincial Service Commission Act, 1994 (Act No. 1 of 1994 of Northern Province), the North West Provincial Service Commission Act, 1994 (Act No. 2 of 1994 of North-West), the Provincial Service Commission Act, 1994 (Act No. 3 of 1994 of Free State), the Northern Cape Provincial Sesvice Commission Act, 1994 (Act No. 3 of 1994 of Northern Cape), the Provincial Service Commission Act (Eastern Transvaal), 1994 (Act No. 3 of 1994 of Mpumalanga), the Provincial Service Commission Act, 1994 (Act No. 3 of 1994 of Gauteng), the Western Cape Provincial Service Commission Law, 1994 (Act No. 5 of 1994 of Western Cape), the Provincial Service Commission Act, 1994 (Eastern Cape) (Act No. 5 of 1994 of Eastern Cape) and the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Service Commission Act, 1994 (Act No. 6 of 1994 of KwaZulu/Natal), are hereby abolished.

Short titIe and commencement

2. This Act shall be called the Abolition of Public Administration Commissions Act, 1997, and shall come into operation on a date fixed by the President by proclamation in the Gazette.
