Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe to chair South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) extended plenary

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will attend and chair a meeting of the reconstituted South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), at the Royal Showground, Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal Province.

The South African National Aids Council (SANAC) is a multi-sectoral body established to drive a national programme in response to HIV, AIDS and TB.

In line with the National Strategic Plan (NSP) on HIV, STIs and TB, 2012-2016 NSP, SANAC has decided to restructure itself to ensure greater representativity and inclusivity. 

The new SANAC governance structure includes civil society organisations, Provincial Aids Councils, and government. 

Deputy President Motlanthe will as part of the visit to the KwaZulu-Natal province, interact with various role players at local communities.
