Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, has urged the Western Cape’s entrepreneurs to enter the Premier’s Entrepreneurship Awards.
The deadline for the competition has been extended until 15 September.
There are five categories, each category carries a R90 000 prize, while the overall winner will receive a R100 000 trip for two to an international entrepreneurship event, plus R50 000 to use on expanding their business.
As part of his win, last year’s top entrepreneur Ludwick Marishane, the owner of Headboy Industries, travelled to Moscow to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Congress.
Minister Winde said it was important to recognise the achievements of entrepreneurs.
“The awards are part of a public campaign to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in our province. We need to celebrate their contribution to economic growth. It is my hope that by recognising these SMMEs, they are able to grow their businesses. We support the development of SMMEs because they create jobs and in this province, job creation is our number one priority,” said Minister Winde.
