CRL Rights Commission wishes Muslim Community a happy Eid al–Adha festival

The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) is mandated to promote respect for cultural, religious and linguistic rights of communities in South Africa.

The Commission therefore would like wish a very happy Eid al-Adha festival to our Muslim communities in South Africa. Eid al-Adha known to be a "feast of sacrifice") or "Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Eid" is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma'il) as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a sheep to sacrifice instead

Eid al-Adha celebrations occur after the Hajj and the festival of Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the tenth day of the last month of Islamic year, Duhl- Hijja. Eid al-Adha is known through several names across the world and this festival of sacrifice is celebrated for several days in some areas of the country. It is seen that Muslims celebrate this festival with great excitement no matter where they are.

The CRL Right Commission wishes the Muslim Community a very happy Eid al-Adha.  May the Creator fulfil all their wishes in wealth, health and happiness and nourish their lives as they celebrate in remembrance of the great selfless act of sacrifies.
