The Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund will be embarking on an educational campaign both in Bela Bela and Burgersfort respectively. The campaign seeks to bring members of the public up to par with the services of the fund and how to access them.
“The campaign will be held in Bela Bela Sanfa stadium on Thursday 10 March 2011 at 10h00, to proceed to Burgersfort on 12 March 2011 at Sekhukhune FET at 10h00,” said Shadrack Mkhonto who is the Compensation Commissioner of the Compensation Fund.
The Commissioner further added that the event is focusing on members of the public who were either injured or who got diseases at work, but were never compensated through the compensation fund. “We will be having our mobile bus on sight to check the status of the people’s claims on the spot hence we urged the members to come along with documents such as a bank statement, identity document, first medical reports and others. This will be very helpful as we would lodge a claim on the spot if such has not been done already.” Mkhonto said.
“We are not only targeting the injured and the sick, but everyone who is either employed or is at an age where he/she can be employed at anytime. For them, this would be a chance to be educated of measures to be taken when one is injured”. He said.
The commissioner of the Fund, Executive Mayors of both these District Municipalities, local mayors other dignitaries will form part of this all important events. Just over 1 500 members of the public are anticipated for both these events.
