Limpopo

The Executive Council of Limpopo Provincial Government convened a special
meeting today in which it appointed MEC for Roads and Transport, Mr Cassel
Mathale as an acting Premier of Limpopo. This follows the resignation of former
Premier, Mr Sello Moloto on the 2nd of March 2009.
The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (1996) and as amended
requires that upon the resignation of the premier, the Executive Council of the
Province appoint an acting premier for the period not exceeding 30 days while
the Provincial Legislature is working on the election of the new premier.
MEC Mathale will, however, still continue to take charge of the Provincial
Department of Roads and Transport.
