The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition in partnership with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, will host the 2023 AGOA Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum from 2 - 4 November 2023 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.
The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was signed into law on 18 May 2000 to encourage African countries to open their economies and build free trade markets. The programme affords African producers an important competitive advantage in the US market, thereby enabling exports, encouraging investment in the region, boosting private sector activity and economic growth in the region. 
The 2023 AGOA Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum seeks to expand and deepen trade and investment relationships between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). It also encourages regional integration and further reaffirms Africa’s position as a capable economic partner for the world.
