Ms Bernice Swarts was appointed as Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment from 3 July 2024. She previously served as Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure from 6 March 2023.

She is a member of the National Assembly, representing the African National Congress.  With a career rooted in public service and community activism, Ms Swarts is recognised for her steadfast commitment to social justice and economic empowerment.
