Mr Fezile Bhengu served as a Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of South Africa until May 11 2009. He also served as a member of Parliament from 1994 to 2009; and he served as African National Congress Parliamentary Whip; Chaiperson of the Portifolio Committee on Public Works; Chairperson of Parliamentary Committee on Defence; a member of the Joint Rules Committee and as a parliamentary Programming Cluster Whip and Convenor.

Mr Fezile Bhengu hold a B Juris from Fort Hare University.

Mr Bhengu was a member of ANC Regional Executive Committe of Transkei and OR Tambo branches where he served in the capacities of African National Congress (ANC) Secretary for Transkei region, member of the ANC underground structures, member of ANC Branch Executive Committee, and as a member of the United Democratic Front and as a Student Activist.
