Ms Bongi Maria Ntuli served as the Deputy Minister of Social Development of the Republic of South Africa from 1 November 2010 until 25 May 2014.

 

Academic Qualifications

Ms Ntuli holds a B.Comm Honours degree in Information Systems from University of the Western Cape and obtained a Advanced Diploma in Economic policy from the same University and Certificate in Macro and Micro economics from University of South Africa (UNISA). She was trained in Managing economic strategies and micro economic policy reform; and in Implemention of sustainable strategies in a globalising world from Williams College in United States of America (USA). He also obtained training in Economic strategies for job creation and poverty reduction from Williams College in USA. Ms Ntuli also attended a course in leadership at Rhodes University and obtained practioners certificate in ALBET from UNISA.

Ms Ntuli became a member of Parliament in 1994 and had served as a member of Joint Monitoring Committee on Improvement of Quality of Life and Status of women; a member of the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry; a member of African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL); a member of and Deputy Chairperson of the Nkangala Region of ANC and as a member of Portfolio Committee on Agriculture and Land Affairs. Prior to her present appointment as Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Ntuli was Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry from 11 May 2009 until 31 October 2010.
