The Anglican Church of Southern Africa is arranging memorial services for Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.

In honour of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu’s commitment to religious inclusiveness and in celebration of his life, the City of Cape Town will host a special tribute at the City Hall on Wednesday, 29 December 2021, at 18:00. The City of Cape Town advises the public that numerous roads around the City Hall will be closed tomorrow, ahead of tomorrow evening’s interfaith tribute to Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.

Cathedral of St Mary The Virgin, Johannesburg wil hold a memorial service on 30 December.

Premier Bushy Maape leads a memorial service for the late Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu in Klerksdorp on 30 December.

The Archbishop, who was a globally venerated theologian, anti-apartheid campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, passed away on Sunday, 26 December 2021.

The Special Official Funeral will take place in St George’s Cathedral, Cape Town, on New Year’s Day, Saturday, 1 January 2022.
