Premier Makhura visits West Africa to promote intra Africa Trade

Gauteng Premier David Makhura will on Sunday 28 May 2017 lead a delegation of government and business on a working visit to Ghana and Nigeria.

The purpose of the visit is to promote trade and investment between Gauteng based companies and West Africa in the interest of intra Africa trade. The purpose of the visit is to promote trade and investment between Gauteng based companies and West Africa in the interest of intra Africa trade.

The visit will further promote business-to-business interactions and roundtable discussions with strategic companies in Ghana and Nigeria.

The discussions will cover matters related to trade, investment and tourism opportunities identified during previous interactions and visits.

Areas of possible trade and investment that have been identified are resource mining, ICT services, telecoms equipment manufacturing, energy and agro processing amongst others.

South Africa and Ghana share strong business links through mining houses such as Anglo Ashanti Gold; Gold Fields; and in the Construction sectors.

Nigeria is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and is South Africa’s biggest trading partner in Africa.

Premier Makhura will return on 03 June 2017, MEC for Finance Barbara Creecy will be the Acting Premier during his absence.
