The Limpopo Provincial Government has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Government on removing section 100 (a) of the Constitution this morning. This follows a meeting held today between Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha and Inter-Ministerial Committee.
This effectively brings back the powers of both Heads of Departments and MECs of the five affected departments pending ratification by the National Council of Provinces early in the year 2015.
Both the National and Provincial Governments are happy with the work done by the Administrators and are of the same view that the province is on its way to full recovery.
The Provincial Government is committed to ensuring that Limpopo remains stable and progressive and that we will never get back to where we were prior 5 December 2011.
We wish the people of Limpopo a restful and peaceful festive season. We also appeal to those driving into the province to be patient with each other while committing ourselves to ensuring that their stay is safe and secure.
