19 of 2012

The Financial Markets Act 19 of 2012 intends:

  • to provide for the regulation of financial markets;
  • to license and regulate exchanges, central securities depositories, clearing houses and trade repositories;
  • to regulate and control securities trading, clearing and settlement, and the custody and administration of securities;
  • to prohibit insider trading, and other other market abuses;
  • to provide for the approval of nominees;
  • to provide for codes of conduct;
  • to replace the Securities Services Act, 2004, as amended by the Financial Services Laws General Amendment, 2008, so as to align this Act with international standards; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.
