Limpopo Government commemorates Africa Day 2015, 25 May

Limpopo province will join the rest of the African continent in commemorating Africa Day by bringing together African nationals from all over the province at the University of Limpopo, Turfloop Campus. The 52nd anniversary of the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union will be held under the theme “We are Africa”- Opening the doors of Learning and Culture from Cape to Cairo”.

Limpopo Government will utilise the commemoration activities as a platform to fight the xenophobia, promote social cohesion and nation building; by hosting various activities whereby teams will include nationals from all over the African continent.

The activities of Africa Day commemoration in Limpopo will unfold as follows:

Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the1963 founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), presently recognized as the Africa Union (AU). The African Union, comprised of 53 member states, has brought together the continent of Africa to collectively address the challenges it has faced, such as armed conflict, climate change and poverty. The Day is celebrated across Africa and globally by Africans.
