Heritage landscape forum hosts consultative meeting, 29 Jun

Dialogue on the transformation Gauteng’s heritage landscape

The National Forum on the future of South Africa and by extension Gauteng’s heritage landscape will, on Monday 29 June, host a consultative meeting with various stakeholders for input into transforming the (heritage) sector, taking into consideration the country’s apartheid and democratic eras.

Following the vandalism, destruction and defacing of heritage symbols which started in the Western Cape and in Gauteng affected Mahtma Ghandi’s statues and others in Tshwane and Mogale City, a national forum was set up to consult with provinces. The consultations are meant to discuss the findings of the forum convened by the Minister of Arts and Culture earlier this year and also to come up with ways to implementing solutions.
