President Mbeki to attend International Investment Council
(IIC) meeting

President Thabo Mbeki will chair the International Investment Council
meeting, to be held at Pezula Hotel in George from 27 to 29 October 2006.

This eleventh meeting of the International Investment Council will look at
economic development, opportunities for investment and the Joint Initiative on
Priority Skills Acquisition (JIPSA). It will also discuss progress regarding
the 2010 FIFA World Cup preparations.

This is the last meeting of the Council for 2006. The first meeting of the
year was held on 12 to 14 May 2006 at Mount Grace Hotel and Spa in Magaliesburg
where socio-economic issues, including job creation and the implementation of
the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA), were
discussed.

The government delegation will be led by President Thabo Mbeki and will
consist of the Deputy President, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Cabinet Ministers,
advisors as well as senior government officials.

The business delegation will include, amongst others, Chairman of the
AstraZeneca PLC Board, Mr Percy Barnevick, Chief Executive Officer of Savage
Holdings, Mr Frank Savage and Chairman of the Executive Board of AREVA, Ms Anne
Lauvergeon.

The meeting will close with an open invitation to the media for a briefing
with members of the Investment Council, and government representatives led by
President Thabo Mbeki.
