The average age of a toolmaker in South Africa is 55 years. Carpenters are
as scarce as henâs teeth; so are welders. How can our Further Education and
Training (FET) colleges bridge this gap and respond to the demands of
industry?
KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Ina Cronje is hosting a Skills Revolution Indaba
on 21 and 22 May 2007 at the Gold Circle Clairwood Race Course, 89 Barrier
Lane, Mobeni, Durban.
The theme "KwaZulu-Natal partnering in skills development" encourages lively
dialogue among industry, the Department of Education and government about
skills development.
The guest speakers are Deputy President of South Africa Phumzile
Mlambo-Ngcuka, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sibusiso Ndebele, KwaZulu-Natal Education
MEC Ina Cronje, KwaZulu-Natal Finance and Economic Development MEC Dr Zweli
Mkhize, Dr Blade Nzimande and Business/commerce representative Mr Glenn
Fischer.
