Drought takes centre stage as KZN Cogta MEC opens 2015 sustainable exhibition

Climate change and the impact of the prolonged drought that is ravaging KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) will take centre stage at this year’s Sustainable Living Exhibition which opens at the Durban Exhibition Centre tomorrow.

The KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Nomusa Dube-Ncube whose department is at the forefront of efforts to lessen the impact of the drought together with the Mayor of eThekwini, which is the one of worst affected municipalities, Cllr James Nxumalo will be officially opening the exhibition. The MEC will be delivering her address at the opening ceremony and her address will focus on actions taken by her department to address natural disasters in the province.

Various organisations will be showcasing the latest technologies that promote sustainable living in general and water conservation in particular.

The exhibition starts on Friday, 14 August and runs until Sunday,16 August.
