The North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha has welcome with joy 160 babies born on Christmas Day in the Province. This total number of new borns is made up of 82 females and 78 males depicting the usual trend where females are more than the males.
The Bojanala District leads the numbers with 60 (28 males and 32 females) new borns, followed by Ngaka Modiri Molema District at 40 (19 Male and 21 Females) while Dr Kenneth Kaunda District stands at 32 (15 Males and 17 Female). The District with the lowest population in the Province which is Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati delivered the lowest total of 28 babies made of 16 Males and 12 Females.
The first baby was a boy born 00h25 on the 25 December 2019 at Thusong/ General Delarey Hospital in Ngaka Modiri Molema District.
In welcoming the new borns, North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha congratulated the mothers and health facilities that delivered the babies.
"I congratulate the mothers for their best Christmas gifts. I urge the mothers to get registered on MomConnect which is a platform that will give them tips on how best to nurse their babies especially during the first critical six months of nursing. It is also important to adhere to the child immunization schedule", said MEC Sambatha
The MEC has also congratulated public healthcare facilities for delivering healthy babies. "I thank our midwives and other nursing staff in our facilities who worked tirelessly to deliver these babies".
