MEC Mavimbela sends condolences after passing of Avante gospel group founder
MEC for Arts and Culture Ms Hlengiwe Mavimbela sends condolences after the passing of founder, song writer and producer of Avante Gospel Group Linda Gcwensa.
Gcwensa passed on after a short illness and was one of the instrumental members for the award winning gospel group. Avante is popular for their song Qina.
MEC Mavimbela says it’s such a tragic loss for gospel members to lose Gcwensa who founded Avante in 1992. “Avante was one of the popular gospel groups hailing from KwaMashu which won several awards. At the height of the group's offering their music revived faith and filled both young and old with hope. Gcwensa will be remembered for being at the helm of this gospel legacy"
