Government is embarking on the Good Green Deeds Programme to mobilise every citizen, and social partners to act now to be a Good Samaritan for Green Deeds.
The Programme led by the Department of Environmental Affairs aims to promote environmental actions that take into consideration sustainable living practices. At the center of this campaign are principles of environmental justice, an understanding that becoming environmentally conscious starts with one small action, and one small action can go on to inspire a global change. South African citizens have to work together to restore and maintain Mother Nature's majesty.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will launch the Good Green Deeds Campaign: a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to mobilize all sectors of South Africa to become more environmentally conscious, leading a deal for nature.
The Good Green Deeds campaign seeks to change people’s attitudes, behaviors towards responsible management of waste, and keeping their neighbourhoods clean, green and safe.
The objective for the Good Green Deeds Programme is a positive drive towards a clean South Africa which is free of litter and illegal dumping. This is a nationwide environmental programme that proposes a simple but bold blueprint for what we all can do as individuals, organisations, communities and as a nation to bring about the realisation of a cleaner and more environmentally presentable country.
More emphasis is required in ensuring that the citizens now take a stand against the litter in their neighbourhoods and start to clean-up their areas.
The Presidential Launch of the Good Green Deeds Programme will begin with pre-launch outreach and greening activities in selected schools and communities across the country.
Love South Africa – Stop Illegal Dumping in your neighbourhood. A clarion call is made to all South Africans to love their neighbourhoods.
Clean-up campaigns are also to be encouraged to inspire and empower communities to clean up, fix up and conserve their environment.
