World Food Day Commemoration
The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Ms Thoko Didiza together with the Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Agriculture and Rural Development and Environment Ms Mbali Hlophe and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will commemorate World Food Day on 18 October 2022 under the theme, “Leave no one behind. Better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all”.
World Food Day commemoration is an opportunity to engage all stakeholders in the agriculture, land reform and rural development sectors in the discussion on impacts of hazards and shocks on agriculture, food supply, water supply, smallholder and subsistence farmers and food security.
Identified projects and households in Sedibeng District Municipality and across the three local municipalities of the district (Emfuleni, Lesedi and Midvaal) will be supported with agricultural inputs to promote household food production as part of the commemorations.
