SA-China People-to-People Exchange Mechanism, 24 to 26 Apr

24 to 26 April 2017

Minister Nathi Mthethwa and other ministers who form part of the IMC on the People-to-People Exchange Mechanism will host Vice Premier Lui Yandong and delegates from the People’s Republic of China during the first meeting of the South Africa-China high level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism (PPEM).

South African and China enjoy strong relations and the PPEM will add to the already existing strategic relations between our two countries.

In addition to government to government engagements, it will create opportunities for non-government entities across academia, business and civil society to interact more frequently through organised structures. The bilateral relations between South Africa and China are at an all-time high, and the extensive participation of the people in all circles from both countries can take the relations to even greater heights.

The purpose of the High-Level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism is to deepen mutual understanding between the peoples of South Africa and China and to enhance People-to-People exchanges and cooperation in areas of, among others, culture; education; communications; health; science and technology; sports; tourism; women affairs and youth.
