The Cultural Institutions Act 119 of 1998 intends:
- to provide for the payment of subsidies to certain cultural institutions;
- to provide for the establishment of certain institutions as declared cultural institutions under the control of councils;
- to establish a National Museums Division; and
- to provide for matters connected therewith.
