Employment and Labour conducts advocacy session with Mpumalanga Education

Mpumalanga Employer Audit Services under the auspices of Inspection Enforcement Services (IES) commemorated Workers month by conducting the advocacy session in collaborating with the Department of Education at Ehlazeni District, Nkomazi Municipality from 17 – 21 May 2021.

The advocacy session aimed to achieve the following: Informing schools represented by principals for each circuit about Unemployment Insurance Act and Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act; train the schools on how to register as users on the UFILING system and how to comply with the above mentioned Acts using UFILING system; converting all the schools from manual declarations using UI-19 to online using UFILING; conduct inspections on all the employers (schools) with the intention of collecting contributions and sustain the stakeholder relationship with the Department of Education.

The districts were divided into Malelane and Nelspruit, and over 197 school attended. All the schools that attended were converted to UFILING so that they can now declare independently on the system.

According to Mr Sipho Mashinini Specialist: Employer Audit Services, the main focus was to educate the employers (Principals/representatives) to comply with the UI Act. Furthermore, the Department of Employment and labour intend to roll out the project throughout all Mpumalanga Districts and continue to strengthen stakeholder relationship with Department of Education by providing support and advocacy to schools.
