The Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga will deliver the keynote address at the inauguration of newly elected members of the South African Council for Educators (SACE) on Wednesday, 18 August 2021.
The SACE Council was instituted by the SACE Act No.31 of 2000 as amended by Education Laws Amendment Act No.31 of 2007, and the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act No.15 of 2011. It comprises 30 members from the Organised Profession, the Department of Basic Education, the National Associations of School Governing Bodies, the Council for Higher Education, the Council for Further Education and Training Institutions, a National body representing Independent Schools and the CEO of SACE. The Chairperson and members are appointed by the Minister of Basic Education.
