Gauteng joins forces with civil society in the fight against xenophobia
Gauteng Government and civil society organisations commit to work together to strengthen the fight against xenophobia.
Premier David Makhura on Tuesday, 21 April 2015 met with leaders of various civil society organisations to consolidate the struggle against xenophobia in all its manifestations.
The civil society organisations had earlier formed a broad coalition to fight against xenophobia. The coalition includes among others African Diaspora Forum, Faith Based Organisations, Treatment Action Campaign, Equal Education, Section 27, Trade Unions, Corruption Watch and Doctors Without Borders.
Government and the coalition agreed to intensify the fight against xenophobia through a series of activities starting with the People’s March Against Xenophobia that is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
