2021 Savings at Work: Government spending reviews conference

Media are invited to attend the opening session of a two-day virtual conference aimed at discussing ways to improve value for money and secure savings in government. Deputy Minister Dr David Masondo and Director-General, Dondo Mogajane, will address the conference.

The conference under the theme: Savings @ Work: Government Spending Reviews, aims to provide a platform for National and Provincial Treasury officials to share insights from their spending reviews, to discuss how to improve value for money, secure savings and for government to discuss challenges, as well as to showcase some of the innovative solutions to improve public finance expenditure.

The conference is based on the work of the Public Expenditure and Policy Analysis unit in Government Technical Advisory Centre (GTAC) under the auspices of National Treasury. It will also serve as a platform to reflect on the impact and consequences of 200 spending reviews completed in the country since 2013. Lastly, the conference will look at strengthening collaboration between National Treasury and Provincial Treasuries.
