Gauteng Premier Paul Mashatile and Gauteng Department of Housing Nomvula
Mokonyane will be hosting 20 priority townships programme summit. The aim of
the summit is to give feedback to community and to outline the future plan of
this programme.

The 20 priority townships programme is aimed at providing and rehabilitating
existing social and economic infrastructure in the previously marginalised 20
townships. In keeping with the global city region concept, 20 priority
townships programme focuses on exposing these previously marginalised townships
to economic growth opportunities. At the end of this programme which is
envisaged to run until 2009/10, all roads in these townships would have been
tarred.
