The Office of the Premier in collaboration with the Department of Labour and
Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS) office will host a Provincial
Skills Development Conference, which will take place as follows:
Date: 25 - 27 July 2005
Venue: Klerksdorp Civic Centre
Theme: Skills for Accelerated Growth and Development
The purpose of the conference is:
* to determine progress in the implementation of skills development
interventions within the economic sectors of the province in the context of
PGDS, Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA), Joint
Initiative for Priority Skills Acquisition (JIPSA) and the National Skills
Development Strategy
* to review Provincial Skills Development targets in line with the provincial
priorities with respect to unemployed youth, unemployed graduates, women, and
people with disabilities
* to review progress regarding implementation of the 2005 Skills Development
Conference resolutions.
The Premier of the Province, Mrs Edna Molewa, will address the delegates on
the first day of the Conference.
Media is invited to be part of this conference. A media briefing session
will be held at the Acacia Guest House on the 24 July 2006 at 18h00. Transport
has been organised from Mafikeng to Klerksdorp. Journalists who wish to attend
the conference should confirm their attendance with Malentswe Tsheole on or
before Wednesday, 19 July 2006 by 12h00.
