Minister Mbalula wishes senior official strength in his battle against COVID-19
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has wished a senior official at the Department of Transport a swift and full recovery in his fight against the Corona Virus.
The official tested positive for COVID-19 on the 12th of June 2020, making his the first positive case at the Department of Transport.
The official last reported for duty on the 8th of June 2020 and has since been sent home for self-isolation, rest and recovery.
"The official in question is a selfless and hardworking servant of the Republic of South Africa, it is an absolute pleasure to work alongside him. He has extensive institutional knowledge of the transport sector and is an integral part of our operations. There is still much work to be done.We wish him a full recovery, in order that he may resume his duties and continue his sterling work", said Minister Mbalula.
The official has not been in contact with Minister Mbalula in recent weeks. Contact tracing has commenced and affected colleagues have been advised to test and self isolate.
The offices of the National Department of Transport have been closed indefinitely,for the purpose of disinfection.
