Home Affairs update on congestion at Beit Bridge

Update on the congestion at Beit Bridge

The Department of Home Affairs and its Zimbabwe counterparts have, by this afternoon, been able to bring the queues for pedestrians and people travelling in cars at the Beit Bridge border post to manageable levels.

It is still taking some time to process trucks. Officials from South Africa and Zimbabwe continue to work together to expedite the processing of trucks.

There are higher traveller traffic volumes across all the major border posts.

The Department's senior managers will remain at Beit Bridge and other border posts to facilitate decision making which will enable travellers to transit quicker.

The Department anticipates that more travellers may still cross our borders today, as the Christmas Day approaches.

The Department further appeals to travellers to carry the correct travel documents, which should be legible, when they travel.
