MEC Tikana is stepping up Community Safety through the launch of a massive Safety month programme
The Department of Safety and Liaison is set to launch a massive Safety Month Programme in order to intensify the fight against crime and corruption in the Eastern Cape Province. Key activities of the programme will be implemented across various municipalities in the province.
The massive programme among others seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- Mobilise communities against crime
- Strengthen oversight over SAPS to enhance service delivery
- Strengthen stakeholder collaboration with a focus on youth, people living with disability and elderly
- Promote rural safety
- Promote school safety
- Strengthen community police structures
Kindly note that this programme will be preceded by a dinner programme which will be held at evening with learners living with disability, at Khanyisa Special School in Cala on Thursday, 01 February 2018. In this regard, the local media is invited to come.
For the Launch of the Safety Month programme, all members of the media fraternity are hereby invited to be part of this massive programme in order to get first-hand information from the political leadership. The details of the programme are as follows:
