Department of Labour to engage employers in the farming sector during Employer Campaign
The Department of Labour in the Free State province will be embarking on an Inspection and Enforcement Services employer campaign to be held on the 20th of September 2017. This campaign will be held in Bothaville, Dick Cawood Hall (Old Kommando Hall) from 10:00am, and will cater for employers and employer organizations in and around the said town. This campaign is meant to share vital information about different pieces of labour legislation with employers in the farming sector.
Different business units of the Department of Labour such as Inspection and Enforcement Services (IES), Public Employment Services (PES), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) as well as Compensation Fund (CF) will be presenting a variety of their service offerings to attendees.
IES will share information on the Sectoral Determination 13: Farm Worker Sector, as well as on Occupational Health and Safety Act and Employment Equity Act. Crucial information relating to the Unemployment Insurance Act and Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act together with step by step processes on how to declare your employees on the UIF’s system called UFiling will be shared with attendees.
On the same token, critical information regarding Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act and how to make optimum use of the CF’s online system called uMehluko will also be presented. PES will also make a presentation speaking to the recently promulgated Employment Services Act and the Employment Services System South Africa (ESSA) which is used to recruit potential employees for employers. ESSA is therefore an automated matching platform where work-seekers are matched with available job opportunities.
Farm owners and employer organizations in the agriculture sector are invited to attend this august occasion to equip themselves on labour legislation as well as processes and procedures they need to follow as they do business with the Department of Labour.
