A Destination Desirable for Sports Tourism: Join To Watch Rugby World Cup @ 2023 Free State Tourism SaamTrek Fan Park
In an effort to enhance game changing phenomenon in the world of Tourism, the Free State Department of Economy, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA), MEC Thabo Meeko calls on all Free Starters to back the SA Rugby 'Bokke' at the 2023 Free State SaamTrek Fan Park- Phakisa Raceway.
Amongst the activities for an experience of a lifetime, travellers will witness and enjoy the big screen broadcast of the Rugby World Cup final, between Springboks and All Blacks.
This initiative responds to the Free State Provincial Tourism Sector Strategy 2020-2030 which states that sports tourism is one of the fasted-growing sectors with various sports events that can attract tourists to distinguish themselves and provide authentic local experiences.
MEC Thabo Meeko explains that events of Tourism SaamTrek magnitude are aimed at positively impacting the local economy by getting more visitors to Matjhabeng Local Municipality, and also provide the necessary exposure and awareness to the tourism products in the region.
With free entry, additional activities and entertainment includes a kiddie’s village, biker stunts show, car drifting, music performances, food stalls, and tourism products exhibitions.
