Deputy Minister Tshabalala to handover four solar powered borehole systems in Mankweng
The Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Ms Judith Tshabalala will deliver a keynote address at an official ceremony to handover four solar powered borehole systems by Coca Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) in Mankweng, Polokwane on Thursday, 12 October 2023.
This noble initiative by CCBSA is expected to benefit 5000 households in Mankweng and Moletjie, with a total capacity of 4.6 million liters per year at no cost to the community. Of the four systems, two are in Mantjana and Makanye villages (Mankweng) while the other two are at King Solly Park and Magodu villages (Moletjie).
The Coke Ville groundwater harvesting project is an initiative set out in direct response to the current water challenges in Polokwane and is aimed at providing water access to communities.
With water demand growing and the development of surface water becoming more costly and challenging, CCBSA, in line with the Department Water and Sanitation’s mandate, has invested in a groundwater harvesting solution in the Polokwane Municipal area, to enhance the quality and quantity of water resources and to diversify sources in the area.
