Limpopo Premier Sello Moloto will address about 650 public service trainers
from all over the country at the eleventh National Public Service Trainers'
conference from 4 to 7 November 2007 at The Ranch hotel in Polokwane.
The Limpopo Provincial Government in partnership with the Public Service
Trainers Forum (PSTF) and the South African Management Development Institute
(SAMDI) hosts this year's conference. It is hosted annually by different
provinces and includes participants from local, provincial and national
government.
The theme of the conference is: "The capacity of the State to deliver
government's programme of action through human resource development for
economic growth and development in South Africa". It will bring together
officials involved in Human Resource Development (HRD) interventions such as
HRD managers, training practitioners, skills development facilitators and
academics in the field of public management.
The conference will stimulate debate, disseminate HRD information and enrich
the skills of public sector HRD officials. International speakers will give a
global perspective and national and international HRD best practice will be
shared and benchmarked. Among the issues on the agenda is the re-engineering
and integration of HR approach and transformation of government systems and
processes to accommodate youth for employment in the public service case study
on the accelerated development programme.
The conference takes place at a time when government is focusing on
improving the capacity and organisation of the State. Public service skills
development is crucial in improving government performance and service
delivery.
The PSTF is a non-statutory, non-profit making body comprising of Public
Service HRD practitioners. This body resides in the Department of Public
Service and Administration within the ambit of SAMDI. The PSTF was formed in
1997 and has been active in shaping the formulation and implementation of the
Public Service HRD Strategy.
