Labour on family responsibility leave days

Farm workers sectoral determination

3 April 2006

The Department of Labour’s Employment Standards has noted with concern the
issues raised by stakeholders within the agricultural sector, on the erroneous
reference to the number of family responsibility leave days published in the
newspapers.

Instead of three days as stipulated in the sectoral determination for the
sector, our advertisement says that farm workers are entitled to five days of
family responsibility leave.

Once the mistake is rectified and well communicated by way of a follow up
communication campaign. Feel free to contact your nearest labour centre should
you require the assistance of a labour inspector where possible disputes
exist.

Please accept our since apologies for the inconvenience caused by the
advertisement.
