As part of an ongoing process to deal with the skills shortage, the
KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health is offering bursaries for those students who
passed matric in 2005 for the 2006 academic year in the following fields of
study: Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Occupational Therapy, Radiography and
Dietetics.

The monetary value of these bursaries is estimated at R12 million.

Those students who wish to apply must meet the criteria set by the

the student may not have another Diploma or Degree. Students who already have
another bursary will not be considered. The student must be willing to sign a
student loan agreement with the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal.

Application forms are available at Financial Aid offices at the relevant
tertiary institutions. All application forms must be returned to the same
Financial Aid offices at the relevant tertiary institutions on or before 31
January 2006. The relevant tertiary institutions will courier all received
application forms to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health on Wednesday, 1

The Department would like to reiterate that if a student does not adhere to
the set criteria or submits incorrect information on the application form, the
