Extension of hours at Home Affairs offices

The Department of Home Affairs wishes to announce the extension of hours at
all its offices serving members of the public starting from tomorrow, 23
February 2006. The decision to extend the operational hours was taken to ensure
optimal service delivery during the forerun to the Local Government Elections
to be held on 1 March 2006.

Operational hours as follows:

* Thursday, 23 February 2006 from 08h00 - 20h00
* Friday, 24 February 2006 from 08h00 - 20h00
* Saturday, 25 February 2006 from 08h00 - 18h00
* Sunday, 26 February 2006 from 08h00 - 13h00
* Monday, 27 February 2006 from 08h00 - 20h00
* Tuesday, 28 February 2006 from 08h00 - 20h00
* Wednesday, 1 March 2006 from 07h00 - 19h00

Primary services to be rendered include collection and processing of first
applications for identity documents (IDs), collection and processing of
applications for the re-issue of IDs, issuance of temporary identity
certificates (TICs) and handing over of unclaimed IDs to applicants.

All clients who previously applied for the re-issuance of IDs and have not
yet received them will be issued with TICs free of charge. These clients should
however provide proof of application. Photographs in respect of the free TICs
will also provided to clients free of charge.
