Japan extends financial assistance of R3,38 million to the
Electoral Commission (IEC)

The Embassy of Japan and the Electoral Commission hereby invite you to the
Grant Contract signing ceremony.

The government of Japan, through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human
Security Projects (GGP) programme, will extend its assistance to the Electoral
Commission (IEC) to support its voter education campaigns by publishing
balloting material on comic booklets amounting to R3 377 393.00.

This material will be translated into all South African official languages
as well as in Braille for the visually impaired. Altogether, three million
copies of the comic booklets will be disseminated to all nine provincial
offices of the IEC.

Furthermore, it will be utilised for enhancing voter and balloting education
as well as enabling the voters to cast their ballots correctly to ensure free
and fair elections.
