Workshop on implementing Information and Communications
Technology (ICT’s) in provinces and municipalities

“National broadband policy is aimed to address broadband roll-out in
provinces and municipality.”

Minister of Communications, Dr Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, as Chairperson of the
Information Society and Development Inter-Governmental Relations Forum (ISAD
IGRF) invites media to a one day workshop on the municipal information
technology.

Details are as follows:

Date: 26 March 2009
Venue: Sun Coast Hotel Durban
Time: 12h00 for 12h30

Expected to attend are: Mr Richard Baloyi, Minister of Public Service and
Administration and co-chair of ISAD IGRF, Mr Sicelo Shiceka, Minister of
Provincial and Local Government, Mr Roy Padayachie, Deputy Minister of
Communications, and District Municipal Mayors.

The workshop will be hosted by the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Sibusiso
Ndebele and MEC for Finance, Dr Zweli Mkhize.

Also to make a presentation is the State Information Technology Agency
(SITA) on Local Government Strategy Blue Print Concept. On 12 December 2006
when the ISAD IGRF was launched, a commitment was made to ensure that
government work in a co-ordinated manner with the spirit of harmonised
intergovernmental relations across all three spheres of government for
socio-economic development utilising ICTs. This is a step closer in realising
this objective.
